Teach Now is working with a secondary school in Barnet to appoint an enthusiastic and knowledgeable Biology Teacher for a full-time, long-term position beginning in September 2026.
The successful candidate will be a subject specialist who can combine strong academic expectations with engaging explanations, purposeful practical work and a genuine enthusiasm for science.
Your Role- Delivering Biology and general science across KS3 and KS4
- Teaching GCSE Biology to combined and/or triple-science pupils
- Teaching KS5 Biology where your experience is suitable
- Planning lessons that develop secure subject knowledge and scientific thinking
- Using practical investigations to deepen pupils’ understanding
- Assessing progress and identifying gaps in knowledge
- Preparing examination classes effectively
- Supporting pupils who need additional intervention
- Challenging high-attaining pupils and encouraging STEM progression
- Maintaining a positive and purposeful learning environment
- Contributing to department planning, meetings and curriculum development
- QTS or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification
- A Biology or related life-sciences degree
- Recent secondary-school teaching experience
- Strong understanding of GCSE Biology specifications
- Excellent curriculum and subject knowledge
- Confident classroom and behaviour management
- An ability to explain complex scientific ideas clearly
- High expectations for pupils of all starting points
- The right to work in the UK
- An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to apply
- Two satisfactory professional references
- Experience teaching A-level Biology would be an advantage and could provide opportunities to work with sixth-form pupils.

Salary is determined based on qualifications, teaching experience and the responsibilities attached to the successful candidate’s timetable.
