General Science Teacher – Full-time, temporary to permanent from September 2026
This General Science Teacher role is based in a secondary school where leaders have established a positive and inclusive culture with high expectations for pupils. Teaching is well structured, helping students build secure knowledge over time, while behaviour is calm and respectful, supporting effective learning. Pupils benefit from strong pastoral care and guidance, and leadership is ambitious in continuing to improve outcomes and opportunities for all learners.
Dutiesas General Science Teacher:
- Plan and deliver engaging General Science lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4 in line with the national curriculum
- Use a range of teaching strategies to support pupils of differing abilities and learning needs
- Assess, monitor and record student progress, providing constructive feedback to support improvement
- Maintain a positive, well-managed classroom environment that promotes high standards of behaviour
- Work collaboratively with colleagues within the science department and wider school community
- Contribute to enrichment activities, revision sessions or intervention where required
- Fulfil all general responsibilities of a classroom teacher, including safeguarding and pastoral duties
- Holds Qualified Teacher Status or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification
- Has experience teaching General Science at secondary level, including recent classroom practice
- Demonstrates strong subject knowledge and enthusiasm for science education
- Is committed to raising achievement and supporting pupils’ academic and personal development
- Possesses good classroom management and organisational skills
- Is reflective, adaptable and keen to develop within a long‑term teaching opportunity
