Members of the Hybrid Faculty teach students remotely, in a variety of different settings.

As a Subject Teacher in the MVA Hybrid Faculty, you will inspire and support students through engaging, impactful online lessons tailored to individual needs. You’ll combine subject expertise with creative use of technology to spark curiosity, drive progress, and ensure every learner thrives in our virtual classroom. Working in close collaboration with the Head of Hybrid, you will contribute to an ambitious, forward-thinking curriculum and be part of a community that champions innovation, inclusivity, and excellence.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure familiarity with VLP course content, uploading live lesson resources to modules in advance of lessons taking place.
  • Ensure familiarity with student baseline data and individual needs and circumstances.
  • Plan, prepare and teach impactful live lessons, taking into account the individual needs and circumstances of students.
  • Ensure highly competent working knowledge of, and deploy appropriately in live lessons, a range of tech tools and teaching approaches to stimulate active engagement by all students.
  • Undertake marking of work submitted by students assigned to them, and provide timely feedback.
  • Assess, record and report on the development, progress and attainment of the students assigned to them via the Partner Portal and within the guidelines provided in the Staff Zone.
  • Plan, prepare and assess internal assessments in line with the schedule outlined.
  • Plan the scheduling of formal examinations carefully and in discussion with the Head of Hybrid and partner leaders, ensuring students and their support network are fully aware and have plenty of notice.
  • Meet deadlines and requirements for feedback to partners in line with the tracking and reporting schedule outlined in the Staff Zone.
  • Contribute subject-specific feedback on students when requested for the purposes of internal/SEND assessments, as well as UCAS and other references if appropriate.
  • Attend occasional partner meetings relating to students they teach.
  • Participate in faculty meetings, training and professional sharing sessions, as well as one-to-ones with their line manager, which provide opportunities both for the exchange of views and professional development.
  • Carry out the administrative tasks and duties outlined in the Staff Zone and as advised by the Head of Hybrid.
  • Enhance and develop the curriculum, in consultation with the Head of Hybrid, to ensure a thoroughly-grounded, broad-ranging and forward-looking programme of study, contributing to Schemes of Work as appropriate.
  • Participate actively and reflectively in processes for staff appraisal, development and training.
  • Maintain efficient and timely communication with students, colleagues and partner contacts via email, Canvas Inbox and, internally, Google Chat.
  • Ensure familiarity with school systems, including but not limited to: iSAMS [School Management System]; the Virtual Learning Platform; live lesson software (Big Blue Button); the Partner Portal; and use these in line with instructions.
