Job Description

WHAT IS MUSIC COLLECTIVE?
We aim to establish a positive environment where young people, regardless of their backgrounds or experiences, can work together inclusively to create artistic work over which they have shared creative control and ownership.

Music Collective focuses on improvisation and experimentation as a starting point for ensemble playing, song-writing and composition. The group work on musicianship skills in sessions (such as singing, chords, lyric-writing, and exploring musical themes) as well as working towards annual live performances / studio recordings. Sessions incorporate and explore alternative and accessible ways of notating music and understanding music theory. We support creative responses regardless of members’ previous instrumental music experience.

Music Collective is for young people aged 16-30. Currently 15 young people attend Music Collective and the facilitation team consists of 2 Co-Lead Facilitators, 1 Assistant Facilitator, 3 access support workers, and 5 volunteers.
