Are you someone who naturally brings calm, patience and consistency to your work? Do you enjoy building strong, trusting relationships with children? A supportive primary setting in Morden is looking for a SEND Teaching Assistant to work one‑to‑one with a 7‑year‑old pupil with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC).

There is no personal care involved, but you will need to feel confident supporting a primary‑aged child who benefits from structure, reassurance and gentle encouragement throughout the day.

If you're someone who notices the small details, adapts thoughtfully and genuinely cares about helping children feel safe and understood, this role could be a great fit.

What Will You Be Doing Each Day?
  • Providing consistent 1:1 support across lessons, transitions and outdoor learning
  • Building a positive relationship that helps the child feel secure and confident
  • Supporting communication, emotional regulation and social interaction
  • Encouraging independence and celebrating small steps of progress
  • Following the child's support plan and sharing observations with staff
  • Helping create a calm, inclusive environment where the child can thrive
What Might Your First Month Look Like?
  • Getting to know the child's interests, routines and strengths
  • Establishing trust through patience, predictability and encouragement
  • Supporting learning in class, outdoors and during creative activities
  • Working closely with the class teacher and SENDCo
  • Helping the child settle into daily routines and build confidence
  • Noticing and celebrating moments of progress
  • Becoming part of a warm, collaborative team
Does This Sound Like You?
  • Do you have experience supporting children with Autism or additional needs?
  • Are you calm, nurturing and emotionally attuned?
  • Can you adapt your approach when a child needs something different?
  • Are you confident communicating with children, families and colleagues?
  • Do you enjoy being part of a team that works closely together?
  • Are you comfortable supporting a primary‑aged pupil (age
    7)?
  • Do you bring reliability, empathy and a child‑centred mindset to your work?

Experience in schools, childcare, tutoring, youth work, care or residential settings is welcomed. GCSE Maths & English at Grade C (or equivalent) required. Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one) essential.

Why This Role Matters
  • You'll be supporting one child to feel confident, secure and included
  • You’ll be part of a nurturing environment that values wellbeing
  • You’ll work with a team committed to inclusive, child‑centred practice
  • You’ll see the impact of your support every single day
  • Long‑term stability with a temp‑to‑perm pathway
