This is a part-time, 25 hours per week (equivalent to 3.5 days/week) on Francis Crick terms and conditions. We would be happy to discuss different working patterns, including the possibility of term time only working.

The Science Education Coordinator plays a key role in delivering the Crick's strategy to engage and inspire the public, helping to grow and diversify the community of people who aspire to careers in STEM and/or are engaged with science and the Crick.

Reporting to the Education Operations Manager, you'll deliver practical, hands-on science workshops in schools and in our dedicated onsite outreach laboratory, inspiring children and young people aged 5-18 through engaging activities linked to the National Curriculum and current research at the Crick.

You'll also deliver careers-focused learning activities, helping young people explore the wide range of opportunities available in science, research and STEM.

As a Science Education Coordinator, you'll also provide administrative and project support to the Education and Community Outreach team and wider Public Engagement function. You'll support community events, science shows and local festivals, while helping with areas such as workshop logistics, resources, databases and finance administration. You'll also play an important role in championing equality, diversity and inclusion, working with colleagues to ensure our public engagement activities are accessible, inclusive and welcoming to as wide an audience as possible.

• Delivering of Crick Education outreach activities to primary and secondary school children on themes relating to the National Curriculum and current research at Crick:
  Solo delivery of up to 5 practical science workshops per day in school to classes of children aged 5-11;
• Lead practical science workshops in our lab for children aged 9-18
• Deliver careers-related learning activities to groups of school children from individuals to whole year groups;
• Assist with logistics and behaviour management at other events, e.g. science shows
• Providing general administrative support such as: meeting administration; finance support; setting up for and inventorying our workshops; supporting with database management and data input
• Providing support with Community Engagement activities, including assisting with the delivery of Community events and being an inspiring and enthusiastic presence at local community festivals
• Upholding and promote the Crick's commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion (EDI); and actively contribute to an inclusive workplace culture
• Working with colleagues to strategically embed EDI principles and practice in our public engagement programmes, and ensure our activities are as inclusive and accessible as possible

The post holder should embody and demonstrate our core Crick values: bold, open and collegial.

• BSc or equivalent qualification or experience in a science, technology, engineering or maths (STEM) field
• Experience in delivering practical science sessions to large groups of under 12s, e.g. as a teacher, with a science outreach organisation, in a science Discovery Centre or within the museum sector*
• An ability to quickly learn and confidently present hands-on science workshops in a fun and engaging way*
