Wayman Education is seeking an ambitious and academically rigorous 2iC of English for a high-performing secondary school in Hammersmith
. This is a critical middle-leadership role designed for an exceptional practitioner who is ready to help lead a flagship department and drive standards across Key Stages 3, 4, and 5.
Working closely with the Head of English, you will play a key role in shaping a curriculum that balances the beauty of English Literature with the functional excellence of English Language. This role carries a £5,000 TLR (Teaching and Learning Responsibility) and offers a clear pathway for those aspiring to Head of Department roles in the near future.
Key Leadership Responsibilities:
- Curriculum Innovation: Take the lead on specific Key Stages (likely KS3 or KS4) to develop diverse, challenging, and engaging schemes of work.
- Pedagogical Leadership: Model "Outstanding" classroom practice and lead departmental CPD sessions to share best practices in literacy and analytical writing.
- Data & Intervention: Lead on the tracking of student progress across your assigned Key Stage, implementing high-impact interventions to ensure no student is left behind.
- Staff Mentoring: Support and coach ECTs and established teachers within the department to foster a culture of continuous professional improvement.
