A prestigious, nurturing independent prep school in Kew (Borough of Richmond) is seeking to appoint a patient, experienced 1:1 Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to support a Year 1 boy with behavioral support needs on a full-time, ongoing basis for an immediate ASAP start.

Job Overview

The successful candidate will provide dedicated 1:1 support to a Year 1 pupil, helping him engage effectively with the curriculum and manage his emotional and behavioral responses throughout the school day.

Working closely with the SENCo, class teacher, and external specialists, you will implement tailored behavioral strategies, manage classroom triggers, and promote positive learning habits. This is a full-time, ongoing role suited to a resilient, empathetic, and proactive LSA.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide dedicated 1:1 academic and emotional support to a Year 1 boy during structured lessons and unstructured playtimes
  • Implement tailored behavior management plans and positive reinforcement strategies to keep the pupil focused and regulated
  • De‑escalate challenging behaviors calmly and effectively, creating a safe, structured environment for learning
  • Assist the class teacher by adapting learning tasks and resources to meet the pupil's specific learning and sensory needs
  • Build a strong, trusting relationship with the pupil while encouraging independence and positive social interactions with peers
  • Track pupil progress, log behavioral patterns, and provide regular feedback to the SENCo, class teacher, and parents
  • Maintain high standards of safeguarding and child welfare at all times
  • Support the smooth day-to-day running of the Year 1 classroom environment

Candidate Requirements

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Strong de-escalation skills, emotional resilience, and a calm, patient demeanor
  • Knowledge of positive behavior management techniques and sensory regulation strategies

  • A proactive, dedicated, and empathetic approach to child development
