Religious Education Teacher
- Outstanding School
- Lambeth (September Start)

Are you a passionate and thoughtful Religious Education teacher looking for a permanent opportunity in a school where students are encouraged to question, discuss and develop their understanding of different beliefs and perspectives?

Religious Education Teacher Role

Teaching Religious Education across KS3 and KS4, with KS5 desirable

Lambeth

Full Time, Permanent

September Start

You would be joining a well-established Humanities department within an Outstanding School where Religious Education is taught as an academically rigorous and engaging subject.

The department aims to give students a secure understanding of different religious and non-religious worldviews while developing their ability to think critically about ethical, philosophical and contemporary issues.

At Key Stage 3, students are introduced to a broad range of religious traditions and philosophical ideas. Lessons encourage students to explore different beliefs, ask thoughtful questions and understand how religious and ethical viewpoints can influence individuals and communities.

At Key Stage 4, students develop their knowledge in greater depth while preparing for GCSE examinations. They explore religious beliefs and teachings alongside ethical and contemporary issues, developing the ability to compare viewpoints, evaluate arguments and construct well-supported written responses.

The department places particular importance on developing students' literacy and extended writing. Students are taught how to use religious teachings, philosophical arguments and relevant examples to support their conclusions rather than simply describe different beliefs.

There are also opportunities to explore current affairs, ethics and social issues through structured discussions and debates. The successful teacher will be encouraged to bring contemporary examples into lessons and create an environment where students feel confident expressing and challenging ideas respectfully.

Where appropriate, there may also be opportunities to teach or contribute to KS5 Religious Studies, supporting students with more advanced philosophical, ethical and theological study.

You will work alongside experienced colleagues who collaborate on curriculum planning, assessment and resources. The school provides strong professional development, an established ECT programme and opportunities for teachers to develop additional responsibilities.
