The Opportunity

We are partnering with a prominent Further Education provider in South East London to appoint a passionate Carpentry & Joinery Lecturer. About

the Setting

The organisation serves a diverse student body with a strong focus on improving social mobility and delivering real-world vocational skills tailored to regional employer needs. Staff benefit from robust continuous professional development, clear pathways for internal progression, and a supportive, collaborative teaching culture.

Day-to-Day

Responsibilities
  • Plan, deliver, and assess high-quality practical and theoretical sessions across Level 1 and Level 2 Carpentry and Joinery courses.
  • Collaborate with the Curriculum Manager to support the growth, development, and promotion of the construction department.
  • Provide dedicated academic tutorials to offer constructive performance feedback, track student attendance, and monitor progress.
  • Uphold strict Health and Safety standards across all practical workshop environments and teaching spaces.
  • Participate in college open days, marketing events, and employer networking to promote vocational training pathways.
  • Maintain accurate administrative records and student tracking systems to support internal quality assurance.
What We Are Looking For

Full Level 3 qualification in Carpentry/Joinery (including NVQ) and Level 2 literacy and numeracy (GCSE Grade 4/C or equivalent). A recognised FE teaching qualification (or willingness to work towards one) and Assessor/IQA awards (A1/TAQA) are highly desirable.
  • Characteristics: A minimum of 5 years of verifiable industry experience in Carpentry and Joinery, exceptional communication skills to present effectively to class groups, and strong administrative abilities.
  • Transport & Commute:
Ability to travel reliably between campus locations across the South East London area.
