Lecturer in Foundation – Health Care Management, Hospitality and Tourism

Responsibilities

• Deliver engaging lectures face-to-face and online for blended and distance-learning students
• Teach 16 hours across four groups
• Provide academic support through office hours, tutorials, one-to-ones and assessment feedback sessions
• Facilitate the campus cover rota
• Lead modules and ensure quality and development of learning materials and schemes of work
• Oversee assessment marking, create authentic assessments and provide high-quality feedback
• Lead or support new programme creation and refresh existing programmes to align with industry trends and employer requirements
• Collaborate with colleagues to provide academic advice and student support
• Drive innovation in teaching methods, student support and assessment
• Assist with online and face-to-face student orientation weeks
• Track students at risk of non-submission through phone calls and tutorials
• Develop assessment and resit clinics
• Create interactive videos, podcasts and activities for the VLE and classroom
• Act as a Personal Academic Coach supporting student engagement, progression and academic success

• Master’s degree or equivalent professional qualification in a subject relevant to the teaching area
• Recognised HE Teaching Qualification and/or Advance HE Fellowship at FHEA/SFHEA level, or commitment to gain this recognition within 12 months of appointment
• Evidence of CPD demonstrating commitment to enhancing knowledge and teaching capability
• Experience teaching Foundation Year and/or academic skills
• Academic background in academic skills, assessment support, health and care management, or hospitality/tourism
• Understanding of challenges to student engagement in a university setting
• Positive and empathetic approach to dealing with student issues
• Interest in AI in education or enterprise/innovation advantageous
• Ability to teach in a blended and distance-learning environment
• Availability to attend the Stratford campus 3–4 days per week, and potentially 5 days based on teaching and meeting requirements

Demonstrates expertise in delivering engaging lectures and providing academic support in blended and distance-learning environments. Possesses a strong background in assessment support and student engagement strategies, with a commitment to continuous professional development.
