An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dedicated and enthusiastic Teacher of Biology to join a well-established Science Department from September 2026.
The Teacher of Biology will be responsible for planning and delivering engaging Biology lessons to students across a range of ages and abilities, supporting strong academic outcomes while encouraging curiosity and enthusiasm for the subject.
The successful Teacher of Biology will join a collaborative Science Department with excellent resources and modern teaching facilities. The role will involve teaching Biology across Key Stages 3, 4 and 5, including preparation for GCSE and A Level examinations.
Key Responsibilities- Plan and deliver high-quality Biology lessons in line with departmental schemes of work.
- Assess, record and report on students' progress and attainment.
- Maintain excellent and up-to-date subject knowledge and develop engaging teaching resources.
- Prepare students effectively for external examinations and qualifications.
- Promote positive behaviour and maintain a productive learning environment.
- Contribute to departmental meetings, parents' evenings and whole-school training.
- Support students' academic progress, wellbeing and personal development.
- Undertake pastoral responsibilities, including form tutoring where required.
- Communicate effectively with parents and carers regarding students' achievement and wellbeing.
- Contribute to co-curricular activities, clubs, societies, trips and educational events.
- Participate in supervision, examination invigilation and other reasonable school duties.
- Support and contribute to the wider life of the school community.
The successful candidate will have:
- A genuine passion for Biology and a commitment to high academic standards.
- The ability to inspire and motivate students.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Experience teaching Biology across relevant secondary age groups.
- Excellent organisational, administrative and ICT skills.
- A genuine commitment to student wellbeing and pastoral care.
- The ability to work collaboratively as part of a successful department.
- Experience contributing to an academic department would be advantageous.
The Teacher of Biology will join a well-resourced Science Department with specialist teaching spaces, experienced colleagues and strong opportunities for students to engage with Biology beyond the classroom.
There are opportunities to contribute to practical investigations, Science clubs, academic competitions, educational trips and wider co-curricular activities, allowing the Teacher of Biology to play an important role in developing students' enthusiasm for the subject.
The successful candidate will be expected to uphold safeguarding responsibilities and contribute positively to the academic, pastoral and wider development of students.
