Are you passionate about supporting young people to overcome barriers and achieve success? Do you have the resilience, empathy and commitment to build positive relationships with young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs?

SANZA Teaching Agency are seeking a behaviour mentor for an independent provision in Barking & Dagenham. The school provides personalised education for primary and secondary students unable to attend mainstream school due to Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.

Details:

Full-time
8am to 4pm (Mon
- Thurs) and 8am to 1pm on Fridays
Located close to Becontree station (District Line)
Parking available

The role:

As a behaviour mentor, you will work closely with vulnerable students. You will support students with their learning and assist them to access the curriculum. You will develop tailored stategies in line with their individual needs, learning style and interested.

You will provide positive behaviour support and strive to understand the root of their behaviour, helping students to develop more positive, effective ways of behaving, expressing themselves and having their needs met.

You will provide both 1:1 and small-group support, helping students develop strategies to manage their behaviour and regualte their emotions, to be more successful both in and out of the class.

About you:

Must have a genuine desire to help young people overcome challenges and reach their potential
Committed to working with vulnerable young people and to helping them build confidence, resilience and promote positive behaviour
Strong communication and relationship-building skills
Patience, resilience, and empathy
Experience as a behaviour mentor/experience working with children or young people, ideally in a similar SEMH/pupil referral unit setting
Must be able to remain calm and supportive in challenging situations
Be confident in de-escalating challenging behaviour
