£37,870 to £56,154 p.a. plus TLR 2(2) £5,869

This isan exciting opportunity for a teacher and experienced SEND professional who is committed to supporting students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities to achieve excellent outcomes academically, socially and emotionally. Ashmole Academy is a successful and inclusive secondary school committed to ensuring that every student achieves their full potential. We are seeking an enthusiastic, organised and passionate Deputy SENDCo to join our dedicated Inclusion Team on a fixed-term maternity cover contract.
Key responsibilities include:
- Support the SENDCo inleading and developing SEND provision across the school, in line with the Assess, Plan, Do, Review process (APDR); including interventions,provision maps and having oversight of SEND register, Exam Access Arrangements register and intervention registers
- Assist in identifying,assessing and monitoring students with SEND, including the creating andreview of SEND Support plans including attending meetings with parents/carers
- Work collaboratively with teachers to ensure high-quality teaching and inclusive classroom practice.
- Liaise with external agencies (e.g. CAMHS) to secure the best outcomes for students using existing systems, including making referrals and the completion of screeners(APDR process)
- Contribute to Annual Reviewsby outlining information regarding interventions and provision. Contribute to Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) processes focusing on the completion of needs assessment requests.
- Support staff training and development relating to SEND and inclusion including upskilling staff within the Curriculum Support department and quality assurance.
We are looking for someone who has:
- Qualified Teacher Status(QTS) and The National Award for SEN Coordination (NASENCO) qualificationor equivalent
- Experience of working with students with SEND, preferably in a secondary school setting.
- A strong understanding ofthe SEND Code of Practice and current SEND legislation.
- Excellent communication,organisation and interpersonal skills.
- The ability to build positive relationships with students, families and colleagues.
- A commitment to inclusion,equality and raising aspirations for all learners.
