SEN Teaching Assistant – Challenging Behaviour

Location:

Enfield, London

Salary: £100 – £101 per day

Job Type: Full‑time, Temporary, Long‑term

Hours:

8:15am – 3:30pm

Start Date:

1 September 2026

Overview

Teach Now is seeking a strong, experienced and committed SEN Teaching Assistant to provide full‑time 1:1 support for a child moving from Year 2 to Year 3. The child has Autism and may present with challenging behaviour, so previous ASC experience and strong behaviour management skills are essential.

Responsibilities
  • Providing dedicated 1:1 support for a child with Autism and challenging behaviour.
  • Supporting learning, communication and emotional regulation.
  • Using consistent behaviour strategies and clear boundaries.
  • Helping the pupil stay safe, focused and included.
  • Working closely with the class teacher, SENCO and wider school team.
  • Encouraging independence, confidence and participation in learning.
Requirements
  • Previous experience supporting children with Autism.
  • Strong experience managing challenging behaviour.
  • Experience as an SEN Teaching Assistant, 1:1 TA or similar.
  • A calm, firm, resilient and nurturing approach.
  • Excellent reliability and commitment to the full working hours.
  • Strong communication skills and a genuine passion for SEN support.
