Aspire People are seeking a dedicated and experienced Safeguarding Officer to join a supportive secondary school in South West London.

This is an excellent opportunity for a safeguarding professional who is passionate about student welfare, child protection and creating a safe and supportive school environment.

As Safeguarding Officer, you will play a key role in supporting the school's safeguarding procedures and ensuring the wellbeing of all students. You will work closely with the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL), pastoral team, senior leadership and external agencies to ensure safeguarding concerns are identified, recorded and acted upon appropriately.

Key responsibilities include:

• Supporting the DSL with the day-to-day management of safeguarding and child protection concerns.
• Responding appropriately to disclosures and safeguarding concerns.
• Maintaining accurate and confidential safeguarding records.
• Supporting referrals to relevant external agencies where required.
• Working closely with students, families, staff and external professionals.
• Monitoring student welfare and identifying students who may require additional support.
• Contributing to safeguarding meetings, reviews and multi-agency work.
• Ensuring safeguarding policies and procedures are followed consistently.
• Supporting the school with safeguarding training, awareness and best practice.
• Maintaining confidentiality and handling sensitive information professionally.

The successful candidate will have:

• Previous experience working in safeguarding, child protection, pastoral care or a similar role.
• A strong understanding of safeguarding procedures within a school or education setting.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• The ability to build positive and professional relationships with young people.
• Strong organisational and record-keeping skills.
• The confidence to manage sensitive and confidential information.
• A proactive, calm and professional approach.
• The ability to work effectively as part of a wider pastoral and safeguarding team.
• An enhanced DBS on the update service, or willingness to obtain one.
