Behaviour Specialist TA

About the Role

We are seeking a resilient and proactive Behaviour Specialist Teaching Assistant to support students who require additional behavioural, emotional, and academic support within a secondary school setting. This rewarding role involves working closely with pupils who may display challenging behaviours, helping them overcome barriers to learning and achieve their full potential.

• Provide 1:1 and small group support for students with behavioural, emotional, and social needs.
• Build positive relationships with students to encourage engagement and trust.
• Implement behaviour management strategies in line with school policies.
• Support students both inside and outside the classroom to improve learning outcomes.
• Work alongside teachers, SENDCOs, and pastoral teams to develop effective intervention plans.
• Promote positive behaviour, emotional regulation, and social development.
• Record and monitor student progress, behaviour, and wellbeing.
• Act as a positive role model, encouraging students to make informed choices and reach their goals.

• Previous experience supporting children or young people with behavioural needs.
• Strong behaviour management and de-escalation skills.
• A calm, patient, and resilient approach.
• Experience with in schools, youth work, mentoring, coaching, residential care, or similar settings is desirable.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
• A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

• Confident supporting students with SEMH, SEND, or challenging behaviour.
• Able to remain calm under pressure and adapt to changing situations.
• Passionate about making a difference in the lives of young people.
