Position to be filled: from 1st September 2025

The Main Role

The PSHE/ RSE teacher will work within the Wellbeing team across the age range of the school to:

  • Prepare, develop and teach clearly structured lessons or sequences of work which interest and motivate pupils in Collège and Lycée and show evidence of cross curricular opportunities.
  • Liaise and monitor high quality curriculum materials and delivery across the four primary schools an arrange termly meetings with the Headteachers.
  • Make learning objectives clear, ensuring interactive teaching methods and collaborative group work.
  • Have high expectations of pupils and build successful relationships centered on teaching and learning.
  • Collaborate with colleagues from teaching, support (Wellbeing, Careers and IT), external agencies and parent teams to embed the subject within the school culture.
  • Establish a purposeful learning environment where diversity is valued and where pupils feel safe,secure and confident.
  • Lead the PSHE/RSE committee twice per year to collaborate with key departments and stakeholders including pupils.
  • Review the PSHE/RSE policy annually.
  • Establish links with university providers to develop evidence based practice and extension materials tohelp transition.
  • Undertake level 3 safeguarding training and be part of the Safeguarding team.
  • To ensure pupil voice is applied across and throughout the school to inform the PSHE/RSE curriculum.
Main Tasks
  • To set challenging teaching and learning objectives which are relevant to all pupils in your classes.
  • To use teaching and learning objectives to plan lessons and sequences of lessons showing how this will assess pupils’ learning/progress.
  • To produce long, medium and short term planning in accordance with school policy and procedure sand within required deadlines.
  • To select and prepare resources taking into account pupils’ interests and their learning needs,language and cultural backgrounds, with the help of support staff where appropriate.
  • To plan for the deployment of any support staff who are contributing to pupils’ learning.
  • To contribute to the Wellbeing team meetings and events.
  • To differentiate teaching to meet the needs of pupils of all ability ranges taking into account varyinginterests, experiences and achievements and different cultural and ethnic groups to help them make progress
  • To manage teaching and learning time effectively.
  • To actively track pupils’ progress and devise strategies to address any underachievement.
  • To develop pupils' literacy, numeracy, and thinking skills.
  • To use monitoring and assessment information to improve planning and teaching.
  • To monitor and assess the effectiveness of learning activities and provide immediate and constructive feedback to support pupils as they learn.
  • To involve pupils in reflecting on, evaluating and improving their own performance and progress.
  • To ensure curriculum coverage, continuity and progression in the subject/area for all pupils, including those of high ability and those with special educational or linguistic needs.
  • To develop strategies for the use of subject/area and across school to support cross‑curricular delivery including subject support for colleagues to enable curriculum requirements to be met. To keep upto date with national developments in PSHE /RSE and related topics.
  • To manage the resources available to you and make recommendations in order to maintain and develop curriculum.
  • To ensure effective communication and consultation, as appropriate, with the parents/carers of pupils,including written reports on pupils’ attainment.
