Pastoral Tutor FTE

The Role:

New City College Rainham Campus is a hands‑on, career‑driven environment where students develop the practical skills and confidence they need to succeedin modern industry. We are now seeking a permanent Pastoral Tutor to join our dedicated teamand play a key role in guiding learners throughout their time with us. In thisrole, you will deliver weekly group tutorials and one‑to‑one sessions that help students set meaningful goals, stay motivated, and overcome personal or academic challenges. Working closely with curriculum and support staff, youwill monitor attendance, identify learners who may need additional help, andensure they receive timely, effective support.

Alongside academic guidance, you will contribute to enrichment, promotewellbeing, and help foster the inclusive, respectful, and positive culture that defines Rainham Campus. This permanent, part‑time role offers the chance tomake a real difference in the lives of young people while being part of asupportive and committed college community.

We’re looking for someone to step into a rewarding term-time role:

• Hours:
  
  35 hrs per week
• Schedule:
  
  Start and finish times vary between 8:30am and 5:00pm, depending on the timetable
• Term Time Only: 40 weeks per year
• Dates:
  This year runs from mid-August (around GCSE results week) throughto mid-July - slightly different from the standard school academic calendar

This role offers consistency, a clear structure, and thechance to make a real impact during the academic year while enjoying extended breaks outside of term time.

• Deliver engaging weekly group tutorials that support personal development and wellbeing.
• Provide 1:1 support to students, setting and reviewing SMART targets.
• Monitor attendance and engagement, identifying and supporting at-risk learners.
• Collaborate with teaching staff, parents, and support teams toensure student success.
• Support students with progression planning, including UCAS andwork experience.
• Contribute to enrichment activities and promote a positive campus culture.
