Sociology Teacher – Outstanding School – Lambeth

An Outstanding School in Lambeth is seeking an enthusiastic and knowledgeable Sociology Teacher to join its Humanities and Social Sciences provision. This is an opportunity for a committed teacher who can encourage students to question social structures, examine different perspectives and develop their analytical skills.

You will deliver engaging Sociology lessons that encourage students to explore how society operates and how individuals are influenced by their social environments. Topics may include families, education, social inequality, crime and deviance, research methods and sociological theories.

At GCSE and A-Level, where applicable, you will help students develop the ability to evaluate evidence, compare sociological perspectives and construct well-supported written arguments. Lessons should encourage debate and independent thinking while ensuring students develop the subject knowledge needed for examination success.

You will plan lessons around clear learning objectives, assess students' understanding regularly and provide constructive feedback to help them improve. The successful candidate will be confident explaining complex theories in an accessible way and creating an environment where students feel encouraged to contribute to discussions.

Sociology Teacher – School Information

The Social Sciences provision encourages students to connect classroom learning with real-world issues, helping them understand social change, inequality, institutions and human behaviour. Sociology Teacher – Experience and Qualifications

  • Degree in Sociology or a related subject

  • QTS or recognised teaching qualification

  • Experience teaching Sociology at secondary level

  • Ability to teach GCSE Sociology

  • A-Level teaching experience desirable

  • Strong knowledge of sociological theories and research methods

  • Excellent written and verbal communication

  • Ability to develop students' analytical and evaluative skills

  • Effective classroom and behaviour management

  • Strong planning and assessment skills

  • Commitment to student progress and achievement

Salary

The salary will be paid to scale on MPS/UPS, depending on experience and qualifications.
