About the RoleThe Council is looking to recruit a dynamic, client‑focused, personable and technically strong Assistant Interior Designer with previous people, design, project and contract management experience. You will be part of a growing team of Interior Designers within the in‑house multi‑discipline design service for the Council.
CEC is leading the way for public sector in the adoption of low and zero carbon technologies. CEC has adopted Passiv Haus as the default standard for all its new build projects and is developing a carbon‑focussed approach for the large number of up‑and‑coming Retro Fit refurbishment projects. This leads to a portfolio of interesting and market‑leading projects requiring high levels of technical understanding.
Key Responsibilities- Manage client and user expectations within the limits of the financial allocation of project programmes.
- Deliver complex, and innovative programmes of work in new build and existing operational buildings.
- Lead consultation sessions with stakeholders and client groups and represent the Council.
- Work as part of a professional design team and collaborate with project managers, designers and external partners.
- Use Revit, Revit Family Creation, COBie Data, MS Office, AutoCAD and other related software packages.
- Apply knowledge of Passive Haus design for new buildings and Ener Phit retrofit design in existing buildings.
- Design qualification and membership or working towards a related professional body.
- Extensive post‑qualification experience and proven track record in delivery of complex and innovative programmes.
- Post‑qualification experience in design and project/contract management.
- Experience in education buildings is beneficial.
- Excellent communication skills, confident presentation to Council and stakeholders.
