Acre is excited to be partnering with a major UK infrastructure organisation to appoint an Environmental Compliance Manager for a 12-month fixed term contract.
This is a brilliant opportunity to step into an exciting sustainability role within a complex, fast-moving operational environment. You'll sit within a corporate sustainability function and play a hands-on role in shaping and delivering a robust environmental compliance approach that supports long-term Net Zero ambitions.

You'll be joining at a time where environmental compliance is front and centre, with real scope to influence strategy while staying close to everyday operations.
The RoleReporting into a senior sustainability leader, you'll be responsible for managing and evolving the environmental compliance framework, ensuring all regulatory, permitting, and planning obligations are met while preparing the organisation for future requirements.
Key Responsibilities- Leading and developing the environmental compliance strategy with internal teams, tenants, and external regulators
- Acting as a subject matter expert on current and emerging environmental regulation and planning conditions
- Partnering closely with Legal, Projects, Estates, and Technical Services to embed compliance across the business
- Managing ISO
14001 and ISO
50001 management systems, including internal and third-party audits - Overseeing compliance linked to water, ground contamination, air quality, waste, and emissions
- Managing environmental permits, trade effluent consents, and discharge compliance, including investigations and action plans
- Supporting climate adaptation planning and operational responses to physical climate risks
- Playing a key role in infrastructure upgrade projects, particularly drainage and utilities
- Streamlining environmental reporting and feeding risks into the wider governance process
- Supporting wider sustainability and responsible business initiatives as needed
You'll be an experienced environmental professional who's comfortable navigating regulation in a complex operational setting and influencing a wide range of stakeholders.
We're Looking For- At least 5 years' experience in an environmental management or compliance role
- Strong technical knowledge of environmental regulation, permits, consents, and planning conditions
- Hands-on experience working with regulators and third-party stakeholders
- Solid understanding of ISO
14001 and ISO
50001 systems and audit processes - A degree in Environmental Management, Sustainability, or a related field
- Hybrid working with a mix of on-site and remote
- A chance to work on meaningful sustainability challenges in a nationally important organisation
