Job Summary

£35-45k + Bonus + Excellent Benefits

A mechanical test engineer opportunity at a growing design and manufacturing company in southern Hampshire. The company recently received major investment and secured one of their biggest projects to date.

Responsibilities
  • Develop & carry out short and long‑term tests of composite pipe.
  • Manage suppliers of test equipment and 3rd party test houses to enable efficient execution of test activities both internally and externally.
  • Lead the development of testing methods and projects (including instrumentation) to facilitate greater understanding of composite pipe structural performance.
  • Prepare test procedures, analyse test data and write test reports to clearly communicate the objectives, methods and results of test campaigns.
  • Provide support to Business Development, by proposing appropriate testing methodologies to develop solutions for the Oil and Gas Industry.
Job Knowledge & Experience
  • Education:

    Bachelors, Masters or PhD in a relevant engineering discipline such as Mechanical Engineering.
  • Technical skills: knowledge of test methodologies used for composite structures, knowledge of different instrumentation methods, good report writing skills, familiarity with Solid Works or other CAD packages, data processing experience in Excel, Python or similar software packages, subsea engineering experience.
  • Interpersonal skills: energy and enthusiasm for tackling challenging engineering problems, team player, leadership skills, good communication skills.
  • Specific areas of interest: composite materials, bend fatigue rigs, tension and compression testing, material development, strain gauges, thermo‑plastic materials, bespoke high load test frames, burst cells, universal compressive and tensile machinery, hydrostatic and hydraulic cyclic systems, pressure transducers, pressure testing, material property testing.
