Role OverviewThe Traffic Engineer will be responsible for the investigation, design and implementation of Traffic Calming, Traffic Management, Road Safety and 20mph Zones, Active Travel, and Highway Improvement schemes across the Redbridge network. This highly visible role will directly influence the safety and efficiency of everyday journeys for residents and commuters.
Key Responsibilities- Lead investigations, design and deliver Traffic Calming, Traffic Management, Road Safety and 20mph Zones, and Active Travel schemes.
- Supervise the delivery of Highway Improvement projects, ensuring quality control, health and safety, and technical accuracy.
- Communicate effectively with residents, members of the public, contractors and consultants.
- Collaborate closely with Traffic and Road Safety Engineering, Highways Engineering, Flooding, and Street Lighting teams.
- Support the high-quality standards of the Highways & Transportation Strategy during periods of dynamic change.
- Relevant technical knowledge of traffic, road safety, active travel and highway improvement schemes.
- Experience in designing and supervising such schemes, with a proven track record of quality control and health & safety on site.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to engage effectively with residents, the public, contractors and consultants.
- Demonstrated ability to work as part of a high-performing, collaborative engineering team.
