Senior Engineer

We are seeking an experienced Freelance Senior Engineer to support the delivery of major infrastructure works within the water sector, with a strong emphasis on tunnelling and associated civil engineering works.

This is a freelance role offering flexibility and the opportunity to work on technically complex, high-profile projects.

You will play a key role in the planning, coordination, and delivery of tunnelling and civil engineering activities, working closely with site teams, designers, and project management.

• Technical leadership across tunnelling and heavy civils packages
• Engineering input to temporary and permanent works design
• Supporting construction planning, sequencing, and methodology development
• Managing and reviewing subcontractor works and engineering deliverables
• Ensuring works are delivered safely, to programme, and in line with quality standards
• Providing engineering support during construction and resolving technical issues on site

• Degree qualified in Civil Engineering (or equivalent)
• Proven experience as a Senior Engineer on water infrastructure projects
• Strong background in tunnelling, shafts, underground works, and related civils
• Solid understanding of construction methodologies, temporary works, and ground conditions
• Comfortable working in a freelance/contract capacity and integrating quickly into project teams
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
