About Our Client
We are partnered with a leading specialist subcontractor operating across more than twenty countries throughout Europe, recognised for delivering complex electrical and M&E systems on some of the most technically demanding construction projects in the region. The business has built a strong reputation for engineering excellence, commercial discipline, and consistent delivery within mission-critical environments.
Their portfolio is heavily focused on large-scale data centre developments, supporting hyperscale and colocation clients across multiple European markets. These projects involve high-voltage electrical infrastructure, fast-track delivery programmes, and complex commercial and contractual frameworks. With a strong forward pipeline and long-term framework relationships, the organisation continues to expand its European data centre capability.
As an employer of choice, the business offers senior commercial professionals exposure to major international projects, strong leadership visibility, and the opportunity to build long-term careers within a highly specialised and fast-growing sector.
What They Are Looking For
The business is seeking an experienced and commercially astute Electrical Commercial Manager to take full responsibility for critical electrical packages on a major data centre project in Austria. This is a senior, site-based role within the project leadership team, reporting into regional commercial management.
The role has been created to provide strong commercial governance on complex, high-value electrical scopes, including power distribution, HV/LV systems, and mission-critical infrastructure. The successful candidate will take ownership of commercial strategy, financial performance, and contractual compliance across the full project lifecycle.
This position is ideally suited to an established Commercial Manager or a highly capable Senior Electrical Quantity Surveyor ready to step into full commercial leadership within a specialist subcontracting environment.
Why This Role Is Unique
This opportunity offers the chance to lead the commercial delivery of critical electrical systems on one of Europe’s most significant data centre developments. You will work within a multinational organisation delivering projects across multiple countries, gaining exposure to international contracts, diverse supply chains, and complex technical scopes.
The role provides strong visibility to senior regional leadership, long-term international career opportunities, and the ability to specialise further within the rapidly expanding data centre market.
Responsibilities
* Take full commercial ownership of major electrical packages on a large-scale data centre project.
* Lead contract administration and commercial governance under complex international contract forms.
* Manage cost control, forecasting, CVRs, and financial reporting to senior management.
* Lead the identification, valuation, negotiation, and settlement of variations and change events.
* Oversee subcontractor procurement, contract placement, and ongoing commercial administration.
* Identify and mitigate commercial and contractual risks associated with critical electrical systems.
* Support project leadership with commercial strategy, reporting, and decision-making.
* Mentor and guide on-site commercial team members where applicable.
Criteria for the Role
* Proven experience as a Commercial Manager or Senior Quantity Surveyor within an electrical or M&E subcontracting environment.
* Strong background managing commercial aspects of critical electrical packages on large, technically complex projects.
* Experience in data centre, mission-critical, pharmaceutical, or similarly fast-track environments is highly desirable.
* Excellent understanding of commercial risk, cost control, and contract administration.
* Strong communication and negotiation skills, comfortable operating within international project teams.
* Degree-qualified in Quantity Surveying, Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline.
What’s On Offer
A highly competitive salary package of €130,000 and the opportunity to lead commercial delivery on a flagship data centre project in Austria. Long-term career progression within a leading European specialist contractor operating across multiple markets.
Exposure to complex international projects within the high-growth mission-critical sector
