You will work at the forefront of innovation in the energy sector, helping clients at a district, campus, and masterplan level to enhance the sustainability, efficiency and resilience of their energy infrastructure.

Energy Consulting @ Buro Happold

Our UK Energy team sits within Buro Happold Cities and contains over 50 engineers, scientists, geographers and commercialisation consultants. The team works throughout the project lifecycle from national scale spatial energy system analytics through to detail design of some of the most innovative district energy and smart grid installations. The team is split geographically across London, Leeds, Manchester and Edinburgh.

More about the role

You will be fully engrained in projects, taking ownership of energy design and modelling and working as part of the wider Cities group to capitalise on opportunities to grow our energy consulting offering. You'll get exposure to a diverse range of projects, including urban development, infrastructure planning & design, and hone your skills in client interaction, resource management and programme delivery.

Specific

responsibilities can be expected to comprise the following
  • Providing strategic low energy design solutions for a variety of projects.
  • Supervising and monitoring the design process to ensure that the scheme design objectives are being followed and the design reflects the client’s requirements.
  • Contributing to financial modelling of proposed projects.
  • Managing discipline input including monitoring resourcing against project plan and task definition and allocation.
  • Client engagement
  • Producing accurate, professional written reports clearly communicating our work to clients and stakeholders.
  • Ensuring that all stakeholders are kept informed of design progress and any risks are consulted with project leader/project director.
  • Supporting the Energy leadership in client and design team relationships.
More about you
  • Knowledge of the UK energy sector
  • Experience in developing techno-economic studies
  • Technical awareness and familiarity with the low carbon technologies and key components in district energy systems e.g. Codes of Practice and other industry guidance.
  • Ability to undertake research and evaluation of new technologies, policies and services in the energy sector.
  • Degree educated, preferably in mechanical, energy, physics or environmental related discipline.
  • Chartership or equivalent is desirable.
