Temporary Works Design Engineer

Overview

Invision are representing a leading specialist engineering and construction contractor delivering complex infrastructure and building projects across London and the South East. Due to continued growth and a strong project pipeline, we are seeking an experienced and motivated Temporary Works Design Engineer to join our team based in Stratford, London.

As a Temporary Works Design Engineer, you will be responsible for the design, coordination, and implementation of safe and efficient temporary works solutions across a range of major construction and infrastructure projects. You will work closely with project teams, site management, and external consultants to ensure all temporary works are compliant, cost-effective, and delivered to programme.

• Design and check temporary works including:
• Propping and shoring systems
• Formwork and falsework
• Excavation support and enabling works
• Crane bases and working platforms
• Access scaffolding interfaces
• Produce design calculations, drawings, and technical specifications
• Ensure compliance with BS5975 and relevant industry standards
• Liaise with site teams to ensure safe implementation of designs
• Attend site inspections and provide technical support
• Assist the Temporary Works Coordinator where required
• Review and manage third-party temporary works designs

• Degree qualified in Civil or Structural Engineering
• Chartered or working towards Chartership (ICE or IStruct
  
  E preferred)
• Minimum 3-5 years' experience in temporary works design
• Strong understanding of UK construction standards and CDM regulations
• Proficiency in structural design software (e.g., Tekla Tedds, AutoCAD, etc.)
• Excellent communication and coordination skills
• Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines

• Experience working on large-scale infrastructure or RC frame projects
• Experience in contractor-led design environments
• Knowledge of demolition or enabling works engineering
