We are currently seeking a Senior Marine Engineer to join our dedicated team in London – St. Martin’s Court. As a crucial member of the Marine & Tunnelling Portion within the Engineering and Technical team, you will support the development of construction methods and temporary works, and the associated design assumptions, functional requirements, and temporary load states for the offshore installation of reinforced concrete (RC) permanent works structures in the North Sea.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Accountable for developing construction sequences and methodologies related to the offshore construction of RC and steel structures, heavy lifting and transportation, extraction and rock placement including:
    • Review the client’s design to assess buildability and compatibility of the design to the agreed methods of works
    • Market engagement, supplier capabilities review and construction method evaluation.
    • Development of detailed design briefs and construction assumptions to inform detailed designs by lead design consultant(s).
    • Overall methods development for key offshore construction activities, transportation and pre‑construction activities for installation.
  • Support supply chain and construction delivery teams for the development of delivery strategies for near‑shore and offshore construction activities, materials and asset handling.
  • Support the definition of functional and performance requirements of the designs to support the preferred methods, and assist Engineering and Design managers to ensure the progression of asset designs is in line with construction methods.
  • Support the development of cost estimates and programmes relating to forecasting the defined construction activities.
  • In development of these solutions, support existing and future planned Early Contractor Involvement contracts with supply chain, including:
    • Construction of offshore temporary shafts with emphasis on secant piling technologies
    • Offshore dredging and excavation
    • Near‑shore / offshore heavy transportation and lifting strategies
    • Offshore batching and placement of cementitious materials (e.g. grout, concrete, etc.)
    • Solutions for offshore drilling with and without the use of large diameter temporary casings
  • Assist development of sourcing and procurement strategies, and assist procurement team to prepare invitation to tenders for relevant subcontracted scope of works (e.g. procedures and specifications, scope of works, assessment of the offers, selection of preferred bidder, etc.)
  • Support the identification and recording of construction risks relating to the methods, ensure that mitigations are feasible to deliver and defined in terms of methods, cost and time, and will ensure that residual risks are recorded and communicated to construction delivery teams.
  • Report regularly on status and resolution of these activities to satisfy the delivery programme priorities.
  • Lead a team of engineers and CAD technicians who support in the above tasks.
What We’re Looking For:
  • A minimum of a 2:2 BEng (Hons) or BSc (Hons) in Mechanical, Civil, or Structural Engineering.
  • Good working knowledge of Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015.
