Job Title: Electrical Estimator
Location: London
Salary: £75,000 + package
About the RoleYou will play a crucial role in providing accurate, competitive and timely cost estimates for electrical projects spanning commercial fit‑outs, design‑and‑build electrical installations, technical systems and associated works. The successful candidate will work closely with the commercial team, project managers, engineers, suppliers and subcontractors to support profitable project delivery in line with quality and compliance standards.
Key Responsibilities- Prepare detailed, accurate cost estimates for electrical works based on tender information, drawings, specifications, and scope of works.
- Analyse design documents and project requirements to identify materials, labour, plant and subcontractor packages.
- Liaise with suppliers, subcontractors and internal stakeholders to obtain competitive prices and build robust estimates.
- Review and quantify electrical installation works including lighting, power, controls, structured cabling, fire alarms, EV charging and other systems typical of modern fit‑out and construction projects.
- Ensure all cost assumptions, exclusions and risk allowances are clearly documented.
- Contribute to bid submissions, clarifications and tender presentations.
- Support value engineering initiatives to optimise cost without compromising quality.
- Maintain and update estimating databases and cost libraries.
- Monitor market rates and trends for labour, materials and plant.
- Work with project and contracts teams post‑award to manage changes and cost control.
- Proven experience as an Electrical Estimator in commercial construction or electrical contracting, ideally within design & build environments.
- Strong understanding of electrical installations and systems (lighting, small power, distribution boards, testing & commissioning).
- Excellent commercial awareness and numerical skills.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, MEP specifications and bill of quantities.
- Proficiency in estimating software and Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong supplier and subcontractor engagement skills.
- Excellent organisational skills; able to manage multiple tenders to tight deadlines.
- HNC / HND in Electrical Engineering, Construction Management or related discipline.
- Membership or working knowledge of industry standards (e.g., NICEIC/IEC, JIB).
- Knowledge of commercial fit‑out electrical requirements (CAT A/B, structured cabling, fire systems).
- Competitive salary of £75,000 per year.
