- A local authority is seeking an experienced Traffic Engineer to support the delivery of traffic, parking, transport and highway schemes.
- The role involves managing projects from feasibility and design through to implementation and completion, ensuring work meets required legislation and quality standards.
- Deliver traffic, transport, parking and highway schemes from feasibility through to completion.
- Undertake feasibility studies, scheme design, data collection and preparation of technical drawings and documentation.
- Manage projects including programme planning, cost estimates and budget monitoring.
- Prepare reports, briefing notes, committee reports and decision documentation.
- Carry out site inspections, surveys and investigations, maintaining accurate records.
- Supervise contractors delivering engineering works and authorise completed work and invoices.
- Analyse survey and traffic data and produce summaries and recommendations.
- Prepare and manage Traffic Management Orders and associated consultation processes.
- Organise and support statutory and public consultations.
- Respond to enquiries including member enquiries and FOI requests.
- Attend meetings with stakeholders, elected members and members of the public.
- Assist with contract and tender documentation where required.
- Experience delivering traffic, transport or highway schemes within a local authority or similar environment.
- Knowledge of legislation relating to traffic, parking, highways and transport services.
- Experience managing projects, programmes of work and associated budgets.
- Ability to analyse data and prepare technical reports and recommendations.
- Experience preparing Traffic Management Orders and supporting consultation processes.
- Experience supervising contractors and monitoring engineering works.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to liaise with officers, stakeholders and the public.
- Good IT skills and experience using relevant technical software.
- Hybrid working with three days per week in the Civic Centre office.
- Attendance at stakeholder and public meetings may be required.
