Systems Engineer, Research Scientist, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineer
This R&D Project Manager role offers the opportunity to work at the intersection of advanced semiconductor engineering and next‑generation computing technology. You’ll join a highly innovative deep‑tech business developing cutting‑edge silicon technology within one of the most technically challenging fields in modern engineering. The environment combines world‑class research with practical IC development, creating a rare opportunity for someone who enjoys both technical complexity and fast‑moving R&D programmes.
The role operates on a hybrid basis in London, working closely with multidisciplinary engineering and scientific teams.
Our client is building breakthrough silicon‑based computing technology using advanced analog and RF IC design methodologies. What makes this role particularly unique is the combination of highly complex semiconductor development with real scientific innovation—requiring someone who can operate comfortably between engineers, physicists, foundries and external stakeholders while keeping programmes aligned and moving forward.
Responsibilities- Managing complex IC development projects from planning through to tape‑out and validation.
- Coordinating multidisciplinary engineering and scientific teams across multiple programmes.
- Managing interactions with foundries, aggregators and external IC manufacturing partners.
- Tracking schedules, budgets, risks and technical milestones across hardware‑intensive R&D projects.
- Supporting proposal development, budgeting and reporting for funded programmes.
- Acting as a key communication point between technical teams and external stakeholders.
- Strong experience managing semiconductor or hardware‑intensive R&D programmes.
- Background in analog, RF or mixed‑signal IC design environments.
- Understanding of IC development flows, tape‑outs and post‑silicon validation activities.
- Experience working closely with foundries or external semiconductor partners.
- Strong organisational and stakeholder management capability.
- Ability to operate effectively within fast‑moving, highly technical environments.
This is not a standard project management position. The combination of advanced semiconductor development, deep scientific collaboration and highly specialised IC technology gives the role a genuinely unique edge. You’ll work alongside leading engineers and researchers solving problems at the forefront of computing technology, while still remaining close to practical chip development and real engineering execution.
