Skilled Engineer (Nights) - Arriva plc
Arriva plc is seeking a highly skilled and experienced engineer to contribute to the maintenance and improvement of our diverse fleet and infrastructure. This role offers the opportunity to apply advanced technical expertise in a dynamic and challenging environment, ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our services.
Job Responsibilities- Perform complex diagnostic and repair work on a wide range of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems within our fleet (e.g., buses, trains) and associated infrastructure.
- Lead and mentor junior engineers and technicians, providing technical guidance and support on intricate issues.
- Develop and implement preventative maintenance strategies to minimize downtime and optimize asset longevity.
- Conduct thorough inspections and testing of equipment to ensure compliance with safety regulations and company standards.
- Analyze technical data and fault reports to identify root causes of failures and propose effective solutions.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams, including operations, safety, and procurement, to enhance overall system performance.
- Contribute to the design and implementation of engineering modifications and upgrades.
- Maintain accurate records of all maintenance activities, repairs, and parts used.
- Adhere strictly to all health and safety policies and procedures.
- A Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Automotive, or related field) or equivalent vocational qualifications with extensive relevant experience.
- Demonstrable experience (typically 5+ years) in a hands‑on engineering role, preferably within the transport, heavy machinery, or similar industrial sectors.
- Proven expertise in diagnosing and rectifying complex mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic faults.
- Strong understanding of relevant industry standards, regulations, and best practices.
- Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and equipment.
- Excellent problem‑solving skills and the ability to work effectively under pressure.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to lead and collaborate effectively.
- Commitment to continuous professional development.
£25.57per hour – £1109.56 weekly
Rest rota of 7/3/7/4 working hours, 21.50 to 06.26 hours.
