Position Overview
Ameresco's Technical team is expanding. A Junior Engineer will support the development of clean‑technology and renewable projects for public and private sector customers. The role is hybrid, based at the London office, and reports to a Senior Engineer.
Key Responsibilities- Support feasibility studies, techno‑economic analysis, energy modelling and energy‑saving calculations.
- Assist the technical team in project development across the lifecycle, including High Level Assessments (HLA), Investment Grade Proposals (IGP), Front End Engineering Design (FEED) and Detailed Design.
- Attend client sites (industrial and public sector) to assess existing infrastructure, conduct energy audits and site surveys to identify Energy Conservation Measures (ECM).
- Conduct desktop data analysis – energy usage, benchmarking, carbon savings calculations.
- Produce engineering deliverables, schematics, calculations and drawings to applicable standards, using CAD/AutoCAD.
- Manage sub‑contractors for detailed design delivery, design reviews and provide technical support during construction and commissioning.
- Create outline engineering work packages and scope‑of‑work documents for contractors to price.
- Provide engineering support to AMRC Sales, Delivery and O&M teams throughout the project lifecycle.
- Liaise with client stakeholders and attend client project meetings, in person or remotely.
- Prepare technical reports, presentations and supporting documentation, including energy savings opportunities.
- Engineering degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering (preferably MEng/MSc).
- Over two years of experience in an engineering or graduate engineering role within energy, renewables or decarbonisation.
- Strong technical, analytical and problem‑solving skills.
- Knowledge of industry standards.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Power
BI. - Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Applicants must be eligible to legally work in the UK.
- Experience with Energy Frameworks such as RE:
Fit, NDEE and PSDS. - Technical drawing and schematic production experience.
- Understanding of low‑carbon technologies.
- AutoCAD drafting ability.
- Enthusiastic, confident and flexible in approach to work.
- Customer focused with a passion for energy efficiency, renewable energy and decarbonisation.
- Strong organisational skills, capable of multi‑tasking, prioritising under pressure and meeting deadlines.
- Team player who thrives in a fast‑paced, multi‑project environment.
- Willingness to travel across the UK and abroad.
