Projects typically include highways, roads, public realm improvements, infrastructure works, and hard landscaping schemes, working with both public and private sector clients. The position will be predominantly site based on a major project in Lancashire, supported by the companys Bolton office.
The Opportunity:
You will take ownership of the commercial management of projects from early stages through to completion, ensuring strong financial performance, effective subcontractor management, and successful project delivery. Working closely with project teams and senior leadership, you will be involved in all aspects of cost control, procurement, forecasting, valuations, variations, and final accounts, whilst helping to drive commercial standards across the business.
Responsibilities:
Overseeing the commercial delivery of civil engineering and infrastructure projects. Preparing and managing cost reporting, valuations, forecasts, and commercial reviews. Managing subcontractor procurement, payments, variations, and final accounts. Providing clear commercial support to operational and delivery teams throughout the lifecycle of projects. Identifying commercial risks and opportunities and implementing proactive solutions. Managing change control processes and ensuring contractual compliance. Building strong working relationships with clients, subcontractors, consultants, and internal teams.
Supporting procurement strategy and contributing to tender and pre-construction activities. Attending site meetings and maintaining a visible presence on projects. Mentoring and supporting junior commercial team members where required. The candidate Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying or equivalent experience. Previous experience within civil engineering Strong understanding of NEC Proven ability to commercially manage projects through all phases. Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
Strong commercial awareness and attention to detail. Full UK driving licence.
