Réalis as a Principal Civil Engineer within our Design & Advanced Technology (D&AT) Practice. You will work on high‑profile projects such as Sizewell C, Ministry of Defence Frameworks, Homes England, Revantage UK & MADE Partnership, delivering innovative solutions and leading design teams.
- Coordinate or manage a team of civil engineers to deliver technical design work on complex multi‑disciplinary projects following relevant national and project‑specific design codes and standards.
- Produce and review technical deliverables such as design reports, specifications, drawings, calculations and scopes of work.
- Provide technical input on external works aspects of projects and work with the project management team to manage time and budgets to key milestones.
- Collaborate with clients, operational and project teams within Atkins
Réalis and partner organisations. - Mentor junior colleagues and grow civil engineering capabilities within the local team.
- Work independently with minimal technical guidance, exercising personal judgement to solve difficult problems.
- Support bid proposals and provide technical support for projects.
- Work closely with multidisciplinary teams in the UK and overseas to deliver integrated design solutions, adhering to quality assurance standards.
- Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent.
- Chartered or Incorporated Civil Engineer.
- Proven experience in coordinating or managing a civil engineering design delivery team.
- Strong knowledge of external works such as drainage, utilities, pavements and earthworks.
- Practical knowledge of current design codes, standards and CDM regulations.
- Ability to work independently with minimal technical guidance.
- Proficiency in analytical software e.g. Causeway Flow, Info Drainage and Civil3D.
- Experience in the Energy or Defence markets is beneficial.
- Strong communication skills and a proactive, collaborative mindset.
- Ability to convey technical concepts clearly within diverse multidisciplinary teams.
This role is based in our London or Epsom office. We offer hybrid working – three days per week being office/site based.

Security ClearanceThis role may require security clearance. Offers of employment will be dependent on obtaining the relevant level of clearance. The vetting process is delivered by United Kingdom Security Vetting (UKSV) and may require proof of residency in the UK of five years or longer.
