Overview of RoleAs we grow our successful maintenance delivery team within London's newest railway organisation, there are currently two vacancies for Senior Maintenance Telecoms Technicians to join the Elizabeth line. The Senior Maintenance Delivery Technician reports to the Principal Maintenance Delivery Technician and Infrastructure Maintenance Delivery Supervisor (IMDS) ensuring that the new Elizabeth Line railway is maintained safely, efficiently, and effectively to deliver defined performance requirements.
The Senior Maintenance Delivery Technician role is a safety critical role that involves working trackside, tunnel environment, station platforms and within stations throughout the Elizabeth Line.
- Delivery of Preventative Planned Maintenance (PPM) of railway telecoms systems within the central section stations, the tunnel environment, shafts, portals, and several surface stations
- Responding to telecoms systems failures i.e., corrective maintenance
- Like‑for‑Like renewals and improvements
- Remote telecoms asset monitoring
- Safety critical inspections
- Leading a telecoms team when the Principal technician is not available
- Experience in maintaining and fault‑finding on railway telecommunication systems (Essential)
- Experience working in a highly performing telecoms maintenance and fault response team (Essential)
- Working within an operational control centre environment & communications equipment room (Essential)
- Specialist knowledge of railway telecommunication systems, including IP‑based systems and how they are implemented; this includes detailed knowledge of routing and switching protocols within an IP network such as OSPF, BGP (Essential)
- Substantial experience with Data Networks, Telephony (VoIP / Help Points), PAVA, CCTV & Radio Systems in a railway environment (Essential)
- Strong computer skills both hardware and software (Essential)
- Experience with Servers and workstations (Preferred / Not Essential)
- Experience with remote condition monitoring and network management systems (Preferred / Not Essential)
- UK driving licence (Essential)
- Personal Track Safety (PTS) and Safe Task Leader (STL) (Preferred / Not Essential)
- IP networking qualification e.g., CISCO, Microsoft (Preferred / Not Essential)
