Technical Design Manager

Drive the future of water infrastructure – lead design excellence on major programmes. Our Client has a requirement for a Technical Design Manager, who will be required to work on a contract basis in Falmer (hybrid working with site travel). Role

Purpose:

Lead technical design governance across water infrastructure projects Ensure robust engineering solutions from concept through to delivery Oversee design development, ensuring quality, compliance, and efficiency Support the delivery of cost-effective, sustainable engineering solutions Job

Role Responsibilities:

Provide technical assurance across Design Managers and discipline engineers Lead solution development from initial need through optioneering and detailed design Ensure designs are deliverable, cost-effective, and aligned to programme requirements Identify and manage technical risks across the design lifecycle Collaborate with clients, construction teams, and supply chain partners Drive buildability and efficiency within design outputs Ensure compliance with CDM Regulations and internal governance processes Promote innovation and continuous improvement in engineering delivery Experience / Skills / Knowledge /

Qualifications:

Engineering background with degree qualification (or equivalent) Strong experience in water / wastewater infrastructure projects Background working in design-build or contractor environments Proven experience at Design Manager / Engineering Manager / Technical Lead level Strong understanding of design governance and technical delivery Commercial awareness with experience reviewing technical documentation Ability to manage scope changes and stakeholder expectations Desirable:
Chartered Engineer status (or working towards) Experience working in joint venture environments
