About the Position

Murphy is recruiting for a Senior Design Engineer to work within our Applied Engineering division from our London office.

Murphy are currently recruiting for a Senior Geotechnical Engineer to join our award‑winning team. Our team is known for its extensive in‑house expertise and continual drive to innovate within the industry. The Senior Design Engineer will provide safe, practical, and economic designs for internal clients to a high standard of professional competence and in compliance with Company procedures.

Murphy Applied Engineering provides specialist engineering support in the following disciplines:
Mechanical, Geotechnical, Process, Surveying and both Permanent and Temporary works within Civil and Structural infrastructure.

• Responsibleforthedeliveryofalltechnicaldrawingsandreportsforthedetaileddesignphaseoflinearinfrastructureprojects(steeltransmissionpipelines&plasticductsfor
  
  HVcables)
• Responsiblefordeliveryofconstructabilityreportsassociatedwithlinearinfrastructureprojects
• Responsiblefordelivery Pre-FEEDandFEEDstudiesassociatedwithmajorpipeline/HVpowercableinfrastructureprojectsinthe
  
  UK,
• TechnicalsupporttoplannersandestimatorsduringFEEDstudies
• Checkingandapprovingoftechnicaldesignreports
• Projectreportingandcoordinationofdesignactivitieswithintheengineeringteam
• Representthedesigndepartment,when necessary,atinternalandexternalmeetings
• Undertakesitevisitswhenrequired,
• Accuraterecordingoftimespentonprojectsandmanagementofteamworkloads,
• Coachandmentorindividualstaffmemberswithprofessionaldevelopment,
• Supportthebidteamswithtechnicalinputintotendersubmissions&developdesignestimatesforinclusionintheoverallsubmission
• Technicalinputinto Trenchless Crossing Designs (HDD’s,Microtunnels&Auger Bores)

• Degreequalifiedin Mechanicalor Civil Engineering
• Charteredwithaprofessionalinstitutionregulatedbythe Engineering Council (orworkingtowards
  
  Chartership)
• Familiar with National Gasstandardsfortransmissionpipelinesaswellasother UK,EUandInternationalstandards(E.g.PD8010,BSEN
  14161,BSEN
  1594etc)
• FamiliarwithUKandinternationalstandardsforplasticpipes
• Construction&designexperienceassociatedwithlinearinfrastructureprojects&trenchlesscrossingdesigns
• Experience undertaking Pre-FEED,FEED&detaileddesignassociatedwithmajorlinearinfrastructureprojectsintheUKaspartofthegovernmentsnetzerotargetsfor
  2050.
• Experienceofconsentrequirementsassociatedwithrail(NWRFormA,B&C),road(CD622) andwatercoursecrossings(EA) is preferred
• Knowledgeandunderstandingofconstructionplant&equipmentusedtoinstallsteelpipelinesandplasticcableducts,
• FamiliarwithgeospatialanalysissoftwaresuchasArcGISorQGIS
• Excellenttechnicalreportwritingskills,
• Someawarenessandunderstandingofenvironmentalrestrictionsinthe
  
  UK.
