Role Overview

You will lead all engineering activities across MARCUS projects within an operational data centre environment. This role ensures technical integrity, compliance with design standards, and coordination of multidisciplinary engineering teams. The Engineering Manager will oversee design reviews, manage technical risks, and ensure that all engineering deliverables meet client specifications, statutory regulations, and EMCOR UK quality standards. Acting as the technical authority, the role is pivotal in driving innovation, reliability, and efficiency in critical infrastructure projects.

What

You’ll Do
  • Develop, implement and maintain EUK engineering policies, processes, and practices which underpin the delivery of technical standards and engineering excellence.
  • Collaborate with Project Managers and Construction Managers to align engineering deliverables with programme milestones.
  • Act as the primary technical liaison with client engineering teams.
  • Identify technical risks and implement mitigation strategies.
  • Ensure designs comply with clients standards, local codes, and international best practices.
  • Support thought leadership initiatives including seminars, white papers and round tables.
  • Support business development efforts through technical insights, proposals, and presentations.
  • Monitor customer satisfaction and implement service improvements.
  • Provide engineering oversight for electrical, mechanical, and controls systems.
  • Review and approve design packages, drawings, and specifications.
  • Coordinate with CAD/BIM teams to maintain accurate models and documentation.
  • Ensure adherence to safety‑critical engineering processes, including LOTO and energy isolation.
  • Support commissioning activities and integrated systems testing.
  • Drive efficiency through design optimisation and sustainable solutions.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies for application in data centre environments.
  • Support audits and ensure all engineering activities meet EMCOR UK governance standards.
About the Role
  • Knowledge of current technical legislation, management and ISO standards (e.g. ISO
    9001, ISO
    45001).
  • Extensive experience in data centre engineering or critical infrastructure projects.
  • Extensive experience leading complex engineering operations at a senior level, with a proven ability to inspire teams and successfully manage multidisciplinary engineering groups and technical interfaces.
  • Clear and confident communicator, able to engage diverse audiences using various formats.
  • Experienced in developing and implementing policies and procedures that improve safety, performance and resilience.
  • Proven change leader with the ability to drive cultural and behavioural transformation.
  • Customer‑focused, with a strong ability to understand client needs and mobilise resources effectively.
