The RoleMy client is a specialist cost consultancy supporting major data centre developments across the UK and Europe
. Due to sustained growth in their pre‑construction pipeline
, they are looking to appoint a Junior to Intermediate M&E Cost Manager to support the delivery of M&E cost planning services on technically complex, mission‑critical projects.
The role is heavily pre‑construction focused
, making it ideal for a cost professional with strong early experience in M&E cost planning and pre‑con cost advice who is looking to specialise in the data centre sector.
- Preparing and developing M&E cost plans from feasibility and concept design through to detailed design
- Supporting pre‑construction cost advice
, including budgets, estimates and option appraisals - Producing elemental cost breakdowns and benchmarking M&E systems for data centre projects
- Working closely with senior cost managers, design teams and clients to ensure cost certainty in pre‑con
- Supporting value engineering and cost optimisation during early design stages
- Assisting with tender documentation, procurement support and tender analysis (depending on experience)
- 1–4 years’ experience in M&E cost management / quantity surveying
- Pre‑construction experience is essential
, with demonstrable involvement in M&E cost planning - Experience with in data centres, mission‑critical, life sciences, or complex commercial projects is highly desirable
- Strong analytical and numerical skills with attention to detail
- Comfortable working in a consultancy environment with multiple stakeholders
- Degree-qualified in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, Building Services, or similar
- Working towards RICS or equivalent is advantageous but not essential
