What you’ll be doing
As Principal Fire Engineer, you will provide expert technical leadership and shape the future of fire safety engineering across the House of Commons and wider UK Parliament. Working within the Property and Asset Strategy team, you will lead the development of fire safety strategies, standards, and assurance processes across the Parliamentary Estate. You will act as Parliament’s specialist advisor, working with colleagues, consultants, and industry partners to deliver high-quality, compliant, and resilient fire engineering solutions while supporting the safe operation of one of the UK’s most iconic estates.
This role is offered on a hybrid working basis, with an expectation of you spending 40% of your time in the office. Find out more about working at the House of Commons.

- Experience applying fire safety engineering principles within the built environment, with the ability to assess complex challenges and develop effective solutions.
- Strong understanding of fire safety legislation, design standards, and emerging themes such as sustainability and new building technologies.
- Ability to build effective relationships, influence stakeholders, and provide leadership while supporting collaboration and continuous improvement.
