About

The Role

In this role, you will ensure that appropriate engineering standards are applied in relation to both design and construction across allocated projects. We are seeking an experienced Signalling Engineer who can contribute to the successful delivery of multidisciplinary railway schemes. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of Railway Systems Engineering and demonstrate the required engineering competence at Project Engineer (Signalling) level.

Key

Accountabilities
  • Apply Network Rail systems and processes to ensure a cost effective, high quality, safe and environmentally responsible approach to design, construction and commissioning activities, in line with all relevant legislation. Collaborate with regulators and stakeholders where required.
  • Deliver engineering activities in accordance with Network Rail standards and specifications, ensuring all design and construction contracts comply with Railway Group and Network Rail company standards, procedures and formal requirements.
  • Lead and manage engineering activities to ensure schemes are safe, affordable and delivered to programme, meeting expectations for time, cost and quality.
  • Apply appropriate risk management techniques, including quantitative and qualitative assessments and HAZOP analysis, while supporting environmentally responsible delivery in line with Network Rail's environmental policy.
  • Work collaboratively with designers, consultants and contractors to monitor performance and ensure high quality outputs across the supply chain.
  • Provide expert advice on construction activities, including testing, commissioning and site supervision, ensuring compliance with current legislation such as CDM regulations.
  • Support and promote a culture of competence and continuous development, ensuring all team members and supply chain partners have the skills and capability to deliver quality outcomes.
  • Carry out reviews of design and construction activities, and coordinate audits to ensure safety, environmental, quality and management systems are effective and consistently applied.
  • Undertake the responsibilities of a Designated Project Engineer (DPE), ensuring compliance with Network Rail engineering management standards and procedures.
  • Encourage collaboration and knowledge sharing by identifying and promoting best practice across project teams.

Salary

Band 4C £43,588 – £51,719 plus Inner London Allowance £3,270.

Your Experience And Skills Essential criteria
  • Successful relevant experience in engineering disciplines, ideally with involvement in construction and design projects across multidisciplinary areas.
  • Technical qualifications to HNC/HND or equivalent GNVQ level in a relevant engineering discipline.
  • Knowledge of quality assurance.
  • An understanding of the arrangements required for the independent assessment of work.
