AtkinsRéalis Building Design Practice is appointing a Fire Engineer to support its national practice of design professionals delivering fire engineering solutions across a wide variety of sectors, including Cities & Development, Commercial, Energy, Residential and Transportation. The role offers flexibility in location; preferred UK locations include Bristol, Epsom, Glasgow, London or Derby.
Your Role- Work in a range of sectors from residential buildings through to rail transportation or new energy facilities.
- Manage multiple engineering projects from inception through to delivery in support of fire safety standards and codes.
- Support the delivery of project work within time and cost budgets.
- Keep up to date with regulations and legislation.
- Develop fire engineering solutions and ensure the fire engineering strategy is delivered.
- Assess fire‑related risks in projects and work collaboratively to mitigate where possible.
- Review and comment on the quality of fire safety related installations.
- Undertake tenders for new work.
- Prepare reports, take part in design team meetings, and liaise with client representatives as required.
- Engineering degree, preferably in fire engineering or a post‑graduate qualification in fire engineering (Applicants with different backgrounds also considered).
- Strong record of successfully delivering fire safety projects – experience in other sectors strongly considered.
- Experience with fire standards including BS9999, NFPA 130, BS9992, EN45545.
- Fire modelling experience beneficial.
- Experience outside the building sector advantageous.
- Able to work toward Chartered Fire Engineer status.
- Flexible approach to the working environment.
- Willingness to travel a positive advantage.
- Good commercial awareness.
Customer focused. - Ability to collate information and have a clear structured approach to report writing.
This role may require security clearance. Employment offers will depend on obtaining the relevant level of clearance. If required, the vetting process, delivered by United Kingdom Security Vetting (UKSV), will be discussed during the interview. Candidates must be able to provide proof of UK residency of at least five years. Refrain from including current or previously held security clearance details in your application or CV.
