Job Description
We are seeking a civil engineer or hydraulic modeller (Consultant to Associate Director level) to join our Water team in the UK. In this role you will contribute to major water and wastewater programmes, support business growth and drive innovation in hydraulic modelling.
Key Responsibilities- Collaborate with teams across the UK, Ireland and France to develop and deliver hydraulic modelling services.
- Provide technical and expert advice to clients, managing and delivering projects.
- Support business development activities, including tenders and proposals.
- Develop and maintain relationships with clients, partners and stakeholders.
- Collaborate with wider Egis teams to create market‑leading, innovative services.
- Participate in industry events, seminars and conferences to showcase technical capability and project experience.
- Experience developing, verifying/calibrating and validating 1D and 2D hydraulic models.
- Knowledge of integrated models (network, open channel, surface) and modelling to support Design and Planning (DAP) documents.
- Good understanding of hydrological assessment and analysis.
- Experience with flood risk modelling, assessments and mapping.
- Interest in and knowledge of water quality models (e.g., physio‑chemical, biological, bacterial or chemical).
- Experience using standard UK industry software such as Info Works ICM, Flood Modeller, HEC‑RAS, TUFLOW, MIKE, Delft3D, SIMCAT.
- Hands‑on, delivery‑focused and client‑oriented.
- Positive, energetic and strong work ethic.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to work in multidisciplinary and remote teams.
- Innovative mindset, always looking to improve, automate, streamline, learn and develop.
- BSc/Eng or MSc/Eng in Civil, Water or Environmental Engineering disciplines.
- 5–10 years of relevant experience.
- Obtained or near obtaining a professional qualification with CIWEM or similar.
- Demonstrated client, contractor or consultancy experience in the UK Water Sector.
- Demonstrated knowledge of regulators (e.g., Environment Agency), modelling requirements and technical standards.
- Knowledge of scripting/automation (e.g., Python, Ruby) is advantageous.
