Simulator Engineering Duty Team Leader
British Airways operates a fleet of full‑flight and fixed‑base simulators used for recurrent and conversion pilot training. The Simulator Engineering department maintains these devices. The role is based at London Heathrow maintenance base Technical Block A (TBA).
Job Purpose- Manage a team of operational engineers to maintain and support the simulator fleet on a 24/7 shift basis in compliance with EASA and CAA regulations.
- Oversee monitoring of defects, identification of obsolescence and implementation of corrective actions to maintain requisite fidelity of flight training.
- Lead technical fault investigation and correction, aiming for >99.5% simulator availability and improved training hours per fault.
- Communicate, train and mentor colleagues to uphold safety and quality standards.
- Engage with regulatory authorities and manage approval processes for simulator changes.
• Experience managing a team in a regulatory, safety‑critical environment.
• Thorough understanding of simulator systems and their interactions.
• Knowledge of EASA, CAA, CS‑FSTD(A) and related regulatory requirements.
• Strong communication, team‑working, and mentoring skills.
• Ability to balance technical solutions with cost considerations.
Shift role covering day and night with a 4 on 4 off pattern.
