About the role
Assistant/Consultant in the Infrastructure Planning and Environmental Assessment team, you will support the delivery of environmental consultancy services to a full range of clients. You will assist in coordinating and providing technical input into a range of strategic environmental assessments, supporting clients to address long‑term strategic challenges such as achieving net zero, providing sustainable water resources, and disposing of radioactive waste.
Your work will help ensure sustainability is embedded into plan‑making and decision‑making, and that opportunities for future enhancement are realised.
- Assist project managers in the coordination of tasks and teams including resource, data and programme management.
- Take responsibility for the delivery of tasks including policy reviews, baselining, assessment, appraisal and interim reporting.
- Assist in the implementation of the latest approaches to digital assessment and assessment automation.
- Support the design and implementation of consultation events and analysis and logging of responses.
- Assist with finalising reports ready for client submission and publication.
- A degree (or equivalent) in a relevant environmental discipline with a strong emphasis on Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA), Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA), sustainability and/or sustainable resource management.
- Relevant postgraduate experience in delivering sustainability, appraisal and/or assessment projects, working in a similar position within the UK or a jurisdiction with a comparable environmental planning system.
- Strong analytical, written and verbal communication skills and an ability to communicate clearly with a high level of computer literacy, in particular Microsoft office.
- An understanding of the importance of health and safety excellence.
- A sound understanding of relevant UK environmental and planning legislation, particularly in the field of infrastructure and development.
- An ambition and ability to develop new client relationships and assist with the management of existing key client.
Membership from a relevant professional institution, for example, The Institute of Sustainability and Environmental Professionals (ISEP).
