Job Overview
We are looking for a qualified civil engineer with railway experience to assist the Project Manager and Construction Manager in project delivery and site engineering for a depot in Selhurst and a substation construction, ensuring safe delivery to time, cost and quality requirements.
Key TasksVerify that works are constructed in accordance with approved designs, risk assessments (RAMS), inspection/test regimes, provide daily engineering assurance on site, and identify deviations.
Undertake or support setting out and dimensional checks, inspection of safety‑critical works, verification of construction activities (pours, groundworks, installation), maintain accurate engineering records and evidence, and support "hold, witness and inspection points" within the Engineering Management Plan.
Supervise installation of temporary works, inspection prior to loading/use, removal and dismantling, ensuring works are implemented only according to approved designs and permits.
Identify non‑conformances, deviations from design or RAMS, unsafe or uncontrolled works, and escalates issues to TWC / Construction Manager / DI as appropriate.
Support constructability reviews, sequencing of works, interface coordination (temporary/permanent works) and assist in defining safe build methodology and logical construction stages.
Produce and maintain inspection records, verification data, as‑built information and contribute to the project evidence base required under Building Safety Act
2022 and Engineering Management Plan requirements.

Act as a key enabler of duty holder compliance by monitoring construction works, providing real‑time assurance, supporting risk control implementation, and ensuring work is planned, managed and monitored safely on site.
- Minimum 2years experience as an engineer on rail civils projects.
- Ability to write Work Programme Plans (WPPs).
- Experience in quality control, take‑offs and setting‑out.
- Current TWC certificate and at least 2years in the TWC role.
- Experience using robotic total station, GSM/Total Station, Leica or equivalent surveying equipment.
- Civil Engineering degree.
- Railway and civil substation construction experience, experience as a Site Engineer.
- Qualifications and experience as a TWCCSCS.
- Senior enough to converse with the Client's engineer.
Ability and willingness to travel around the country; project locations primarily in London and the South East.
