Are you a Chartered Building Surveyor—or working towards chartership—ready to progress your career on a varied portfolio of public and private sector projects? Join a dynamic national team where your technical expertise and commercial drive will be valued and developed.

Purpose & Scope of the Role

Based in the South (flexible), you will deliver building surveying services across Tetra Tech’s southern region and support national condition‑data and strategic projects. Your remit includes asset and condition surveys, building pathology, historic building inspections, measured surveys, fire risk assessments, access audits, dilapidations and insurance valuations, plus preparation of tender documents, specifications and AutoCAD drawings. You will act as contractor administrator on minor works, provide Party Wall services and report findings clearly to clients and project teams.

Completion of work will follow RICS guidance and company procedures.

Your Impact in this position

You will ensure safe, compliant and cost‑effective decisions that protect client assets and reduce risk. Your technical reports and specifications will inform investment and maintenance strategies, while your site presence and contractor administration will deliver quality outcomes. Supporting business growth and mentoring colleagues will help shape the team’s capability and commercial success.

  • Survey & Inspection:
Deliver thorough asset, condition and historic building surveys with clear, actionable findings.
  • Technical Reporting & Documentation:
Produce concise technical reports, tender packs, specifications and AutoCAD drawings to RICS standards.
  • Contract & Quality Management:
Administer minor works, manage contractor interactions and uphold quality control.
  • Regulatory & Party Wall Knowledge:
Ensure statutory compliance, interpret Party Wall requirements and apply professional judgement.
  • Collaboration & Commercial Awareness:
Work independently or in teams, support business development, and contribute to improved revenues and project delivery.
Training, Qualifications & Experience

Degree or equivalent in building surveying, RICS membership or progressing to chartership. Practical building surveying experience, AutoCAD competence and a clean driving licence required. Completion or in‑progress RICS External Wall Systems Assessment training and OS security clearance are desirable. Evidence of commercial contribution advantageous.

Working Environment

Flexible, hybrid working across the South with regular site visits and periodic office collaboration. Role requires travel to client sites; car or allowance as appropriate. Structured CPD and career development pathways provided.
