The Company

Strong Group is recruiting on behalf of a well-established electrical contractor with an excellent reputation for delivering high-quality commercial electrical projects across London and the South East.

Due to continued growth, our client is looking to appoint a Junior / Assistant Electrical Estimator to join their expanding team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to move off the tools or develop a career in electrical estimating within a supportive and experienced environment.

The Role

Working alongside the Directors and Senior Estimators, you’ll assist in preparing competitive tenders for commercial electrical projects, helping to produce accurate costings from enquiry through to submission.

This role offers genuine long-term career progression with mentoring from experienced estimators and exposure to a wide range of projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Produce accurate electrical take-offs from drawings and specifications.
  • Measure and quantify electrical materials including containment, cabling, lighting and switch gear.
  • Obtain and analyse supplier and subcontractor quotations.
  • Assist with the preparation of competitive tender submissions.
  • Review specifications, drawings and tender documentation.
  • Identify project risks and value engineering opportunities.
  • Support project handovers to the delivery team.
  • Assist with variations and cost calculations throughout live projects.
  • Prepare monthly applications for payment.
  • Monitor project costs through to final account.
About You

The successful candidate will ideally have:

  • 2-4 years’ experience within electrical estimating, or
  • An NVQ Level 3 Electrical qualification with experience as an Electrician looking to transition into an office-based estimating role.
  • A good understanding of commercial electrical installations.
  • Experience using estimating software such as Bluebeam, Accubid, Con Est, McCormick or similar (training can be provided).
  • Good Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Strong numerical ability and excellent attention to detail.
  • Good communication skills and the confidence to liaise with suppliers, subcontractors and internal teams.
  • A positive attitude with a genuine desire to build a long-term career in estimating.
